International Animation Film Festival – Fantoche: Focus on Austria

This year, Fantoche presents Austria as a focus country, a country with a rich cultural tradition and a thriving animation scene that has developed into a significant creative force in recent years. Through innovative approaches and talented artists, Austria has gained international recognition in the animation industry. Like Switzerland, Austria for its size has a surprisingly rich animation scene, which focuses mainly on short films and has made a name for itself above all in the experimental field. In collaboration with Tricky Women, curator Djamila Grandits will curate three short film programmes that reflect the historical and current influences in Austrian experimental animation art.
