Presented by Passion Cinéma and Cinepel, this year's discussion focuses on the sometimes complex relationship between Swiss cinema and Europe. In December 2024, Lucerne will host the prestigious European Film Awards. There's nothing strange about this honor. Even though it has been out of the European game for years, Switzerland's film production is more closely linked to Europe than ever before. Ambitious Swiss films could not see the light of day without the help of a European co-production – in 2023, more than a third of them were produced in this way. This situation raises questions, as does the long-term viability of what some see as a system B. Another strong point of this debate is the principle of reciprocity in the field of co-production, which is potentially very attractive economically, particularly for the cantons... But how and why?
Illustrated by film extracts related to the theme, the debate will feature the following speakers:
- Britta Rindelaub, producer
- Geneviève Rossier, Cinéforom (Fondation romande pour le cinéma)
- Lionel Baier, director and producer
- Yves Blösche, distributor
- Laurent Steiert, co-director of the Swiss Federal Office of Culture's Cinema Section
