It is no longer unusual for editors' work and lives to begin in one country and then continue in another. Or for their projects to suddenly immerse them in foreign languages and cultures. But how they deal with the challenges they face varies from person to person. What unites this year's guests on the international panel is that they all have exciting and inspiring 'cross-border experiences' that have shaped their biographies and enriched their professional careers. Their experiences range from voluntary and involuntary relocation to teaching young filmmakers in the shadow of a brutal military dictatorship. The international panel is supported by SWISS FILMS and the 2024 European Film Awards in Lucerne. It brings together two members of the European Film Academy, Aurora Franco Vögeli and Sarah McTeigue, in conversation with Hamed Mohammadi and Fiano Strain to discuss their shared practice as editors working in transcultural contexts.
