In addition, there are eight technical categories known as the Excellence Awards. There are no nominations but these awards are decided by a jury of representatives of the different arts and crafts based on the FEATURE FILM SELECTION. The winners are announced before the ceremony.

Academy members vote to choose the winners from the nominated films and individuals. The voting results are kept confidential by a notary and the winners will be revealed during the awards ceremony in Lucerne on 7 December.
